I’m Becks, well technically Rebecca (but that’s only when I’m in trouble), a 29 year old South African and this is my story.
As a child I was an athlete and adventurer, known for being the girl who was always on the move. A few months after finishing high school I was in a car accident which resulted in me becoming an L1 incomplete paraplegic.
This is when everything in my life changed.
I went through months of rehabilitation and felt like I lost the life I once had. I believe the reason I was able to overcome this time in my life was all due to my amazing support system and people motivating me to live again. I was able to fall in love with traveling again and have been to 11 different countries across 5 continents, all on four wheels. I have now finished my psychology degree and because of CrossFit I officially feel like a badass athlete again. I part own 3 gyms in my home town and have found so much purpose through coaching everyday individuals. I have my CF-L2 and am busy studying for my level 3, I have found the fitness community is an amazing way to connect with people.
I have always been out going and loved adventures but having to call ahead to ask about accessibility before going somewhere takes some of the fun out of it. This website is to make sure others can avoid having to do this. I will be uploading places I’ve been and things I’ve done so that you have a one stop trip planning spot to use!
After all the heartache I can finally say that I have embraced my new strengths and am more confident than ever before, now working towards helping others feel the same.
